Overview
Atlas roasts small-batch coffee for cafés and home brewers. Their subscription business had outgrown an off-the-shelf template, and the website felt nothing like the warmth of their cafés. I designed and built a new shop with a guided coffee finder and subscriptions customers can pause, skip or change in seconds.
Results
- increase in subscription sign-ups
- 41%
- higher average order value

Case study
The challenge
Most visitors arrived knowing they liked coffee, but not which coffee they liked. Product pages were full of tasting notes and processing methods, and nearly seven in ten shoppers left without choosing a bag.
The approach
We replaced the catalogue-first homepage with a short coffee finder that asks how you brew and what you enjoy, then recommends three coffees. Photography and copy were rebuilt around the people who roast, not just the beans.
- Interviewed café regulars and online customers about how they choose coffee
- Designed a flexible subscription that can be paused, skipped or swapped
- Built a fast, accessible storefront with a performance budget for every page
The outcome
Subscription sign-ups grew by 41 percent in the first quarter after launch, and the average order now includes more than one coffee. Pages load in just over a second on a mid-range phone.
